BETH PARETTA: LEADING CITROËN RACING INTO THE GEN4 ERA

Joining Citroën Racing Formula E Team as Managing Director, Beth Paretta has experienced first-hand challenges, resilience and ambition that shaped the team’s first season. Now as she adds the role of Team Principal to her responsibilities, she prepares to lead Citroën Racing Formula E Team into a new chapter with GEN4. She reflects on the journey so far, the people behind the project and what excites her most about the season ahead.

  • After Citroën Racing’s first season in Formula E, what are the main lessons you want the team to carry into Season 13?
The beginning of a new season is always exciting because it comes with so many possibilities. One of the greatest strengths of this team is its resilience. We are a small, independent team, but we also have the support and expertise of Stellantis Motorsport behind us, which gives us the best of both worlds as we are entering the GEN4 era.
Season 12 brought a lot of change and some very difficult moments, both professionally and personally, but the way this team came together and kept fighting says a lot about who we are. This is one of Formula E’s founding teams, and it has continued to evolve and improve season after season. We want to carry that resilience, that fighting spirit and that ability to work together into Season 13. This team deserves to be fighting from the very beginning, scoring points, standing on podiums and competing for trophies.
  • How does taking on the role of Team Principal change the way you approach the next phase of the project?
I joined the team in May as Managing Director, with a strong focus on the business side of the organization. Now, as Managing Director and Team Principal, I oversee the team as a whole, from the commercial operation to the competition side.
I’ve been a Team Principal before, so it’s a role I know well and one I’m very happy to return to. Running a race team is an incredible privilege because you need to understand how all the different parts of the organization come together, from engineering, performance and development to partnerships, finance and communications.
Everyone here is a racer, regardless of their job title. I’m incredibly proud to lead a group of people who are competitive at heart, who strive for excellence and who want to improve every day. To be able to lead this team into Season 13 and the GEN4 era is something very special.
  • With GEN4 introducing a new technical era, what will define success for Citroën Racing this season?
GEN4 brings a huge opportunity for the entire championship. This is much more than an evolution of the previous car: it is faster, more powerful and technologically more advanced, and it will change the way Formula E races are approached.
For Citroën Racing, success will be about making the most of that opportunity from the very beginning. We feel well prepared, we have the strength and expertise of Stellantis Motorsport behind us, and we have a brand that is fully committed to the programme. Our objective is to translate all of that into performances on track and to fight consistently at the front.
But success is also about what racing represents for Citroën. Formula E gives us an opportunity to push electric technology into competition and contribute to making future road cars better. Citroën is a brand for people, and I love the fact that our fans can support the team on track while having a Citroën as part of their everyday lives. Racing, technology and that connection with people all come together here, and that makes this project very special.”
